Wine and Cheese Tasting Evening Review

Our tastebuds were tickled amongst lots of laughter at July’s Wine and Cheese Tasting evening. Thirty people were delightedly surprised to see the Village Hall so creatively decorated with a vine and wine theme.

Viv Baines, who had worked in the wine business for over 30 years, guided us through the tasting of two white wines, one rose and three red wines, with wit and charm. Everyone made notes on the specially designed placemats and enthusiastically discussed their thoughts with others on their table.

Voting at the end of the evening – before we were told the costs of the wines – produced some rather surprising results! The most expensive wine – a £27 sauvignon blanc was the least favourite and the cheapest wine, a rich and fruity red at £6.79, was the overall winner!

Bread and (a rather wonderful!) olive oil were provided throughout and replenished for the cheese tasting which followed, with cheeses and chutneys kindly provided Clun Valley Foods.

A fun, informative and relaxed evening with much laughter! We shall definitely do it again!
